Canote E-Notes 09/11/15

Greetings from The Canote Family!

Mr. Nicky Blue Eyes
Summer is winding down and Fall is right around the corner.  And today, thanks to a crock pot full of homemade applesauce, our house smells like Fall!  NOTE:  A crock pot full of homemade applesauce makes your house smell incredible!

The kids are back in school, kindergarten to college and we have settled back into the daily routine with now two grandkids in our home everyday during the school week.

Little Mr. Nicky Blue Eyes has taken over as the oldest at home during the day since Tori started Kindergarten.  And JP is balancing work and school as a freshman at MU.

Praise the Lord!  For many years God has kept us busy and our ministry calendar full plenty of opportunities to share the Gospel!  We have had several ministry opportunities over the last few weeks and a few things on the calendar in the coming weeks.

We will hit the road this weekend for a Canote family 2-city mid-Missouri bluegrass tour!  We will returning to a couple of our favorite ministry venues. We are blessed to once again be able to worship with our friends at the Gladden Baptist Church near Salem, MO and then another home-away-from-home, the Spring Creek Baptist Church near Rolla, MO.   We are also honored to be on the line-up to play for an upcoming very special and historical service at our home church as we help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the church building at Perche Baptist Church.
MEXICO MINISTRY
We have one large team with a reserved spot ready for Team Ministry in Acuña, Mexico over the holidays.  We have plenty room for more.  We are looking forward to an exciting time on the mission field, serving the Lord and supporting Pastor David Huerta, church Aviva Kairos and the surrounding community.  Our actual ministry dates will be December 30 thru January 3.

Fun Fact:  2016 will mark 13 years God has been working in and through us in the country of Mexico!  Hallelujah!  We have driven somewhere around 50,000 miles back and forth to Mexico in those 13 years.  What a wild adventure for Jesus indeed!  We have been blessed to play a role in a significant Kingdom ministry which has made it possible for well over 1,000 salvations (that we know of)!  God is so good!
#Hope #Eternity

Canote E-Notes 07/20/15

20620 N. Devils Washboard Rd.

Greetings from The Canote Family!

We just wrapped up another incredible week of Team Ministry in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico!  It was another wild adventure sweating for Jesus in the heat of the desert of northern Coahuila.

God is so good to us!  As usual, He was blessing our socks off at every turn.  We had all the usual attempts to distract us.  However, when God is on your side who can be against you?

There were 108 of us making ruckus in Jesus name.  We endured temperatures of 100F or above nearly every day and drank every last drop of clean water we could get our hands on!  In fact, we drank a weeks worth of Gatorade in the first 3 days and had to cross the border for more!

Fun Fact:  The town of Piedras Negrasis (located just a few miles south of our base camp) is where Chef Ignacio Nacho Anaya served the first-ever plate of nachos in 1943.  Yummo!

We don't have all the numbers compiled yet but we know we saw around 100 hundred salvation decisions for the week.  We also know many more seeds were planted for a future harvest.  It was also an opportunity to support and encourage the local church.  Our ministry teams worked at 5 different local neighborhood spots.

Pastor David was speechless at how the teams blessed him and his family!  The teams were able to celebrate his birthday with him on Friday evening when his church hosted everyone with a Mexican feast!  One of the teams was able to replace Pastor David's laptop which had fallen and was broken beyond repair just a couple of days before we arrived.

In addition to our evangelism teams, we had a work team from Manitoba, Canada.  They hit the ground running and were able to accomplish a number of projects for Pastor David and his church, Aviva Kairos.  In a recent tornado and following wind storm a few days later, all of the trees in the church courtyard were destroyed.  Those trees have provided much needed shade from the sun for year-round ministry to youth and children.  The work crew was able to complete an patio cover at the entrance to the church, pour concrete for an additional patio, patched the roof on Pastor David's house, and a few other projects.  They also left enough funds to complete an additional shade-providing patio area.

The city of Acuña has a census reported population of 181,000.  We have only scratched the surface.  There is certainly a great need and many opportunities for future ministry!  We already have our dates set for our New Year's trip and next summer in July.  We need ministry teams and individuals to join us in Mexico!  It is time now to start planning.

Our host team (aka the Canote family) is taking an extra day in Oklahoma City to rest and relax.  Watch for more updates in the coming weeks.  As usual, our calendar is full in the coming weeks with lots of ministry and activity to wrap up a very busy summer.

2015 Ministry Theme:  #PressOn

  • Please pray for Evident Ministries.  In order for the ministry to maintain and grow, we need prayer and financial support.  We need to increase the number of monthly financial supporters considerably to continue doing what we do.  Will you please pray, asking God if would have you come along side us financially and then do what He leads you to do?  Any amount helps.  $10, $15, $25 per month will make a big difference in the Kingdom building ministry!  Maybe God blessed you financially and is leading you to make a one-time larger gift.  We know God will provide as He sees fit.  Maybe He will use you.
  • Please pray for us as we travel home.
  • Please join us in praying a prayer of gratitude for how God has used our family in ministry, how He blessed the people of Acuña, Mexico in the last week, and for how the individuals from our ministry teams have gone home changed and ready to make an impact for world missions at home as a result of their week on the mission field.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY:  Please pray for those who have heard THE message of HOPE during our week of Team Ministry in Acuña, Mexico.

Thank you and God bless YOU!
We're counting on your prayers!

Canote E-Notes 07/06/15

20620 N. Devils Washboard Rd.
Clark, MO 65243

Greetings from The Canote Family!

To say this has been an exciting, fun-filled year would be such an understatement!

For starters, we have survived TWO family weddings welcoming TWO new Mrs. Canotes into our family!  Woo hoo!  Mr. and Mrs. Alex & Kelly Canote were married in March.  Then Mr. and Mrs. Zachary (Chewy) & Kaleigh Canote were married in June.

Mr. JP Canote graduated from high school in May and is excited to start at the University of Missouri in the fall.

We also welcomed another grandson to our crew!  Nathan & Samantha brought home Mr. Henry Christopher Carey in June!  He was born June 3, weighing in at 9lbs and sporting his daddy's big feet!  He has since slimmed down a bit and is ready for his first trip to Mexico (aside from his New Year's trip while still in his mama's belly!)

And, as usual, God has kept our ministry calendar full of opportunities to share His message of HOPE through music and preaching AND blessing our socks off as He works in and through us.
It is now, once again, time to hit the road and head south of the border!  This is now our 12th year of ministry in Mexico and we are excited to host and lead another week of Team Ministry in Acuña!  There will be 108 of us based at Camp Getsemani ministering for the week.  We have 52 from Canada including a work crew to do some re-construction and clean-up after the recent tornado.  We have another 23 coming from our 2 all-Chinese teams from the Dallas, TX area. We also have a team of 18 from Fayette, MO including 2 staff volunteers who will serve on our host team:  Jonathan Atherton and Mason Bryan.

We are nearly packed and mostly ready with only hours left before our departure!  Our home church, Perche Baptist Church, has blessed and encouraged us with prayer, snacks, and drinks for this 2,500 mile round trip adventure for Jesus!  Travelling on this trip as the "Host Team" are:  Chris, Susan, Alex & Kelly, JP, Allison, Natalie, Charlotte, Tori, & Nicholas Canote PLUS Nathan, Samantha, Carter, & Henry Carey.

2015 Ministry Theme:  #PressOn

  • We believe and trust God will be with us and meeting our needs regardless of whatever "fiery darts" may be tossed our way.
  • We also know God will be glorified if we will trust in Him, His ministry, His timing, and His providence as we surrender to Him and allow Him to do His work in and through us.
  • Please pray for us as we travel.  This trip includes several hundred miles of open desert.  2,500 miles is a long distance for anyone but especially for little ones.
  • Please pray for our ministry teams as they finish preparing this week and travel to join us in Acuña.  An experience like this is guaranteed to change and impact all of us.  We know there will be those on these ministry teams who will go home a new person ready to impact their home circles, families, churches, etc.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY:  Please pray for those who will hear THE message of HOPE during our week of Team Ministry in Acuña, Mexico.
Thank you and God bless YOU!

Acuña Update - 12/31/14

God's Providence

For starters, we must report that our Special Project prayer request was met 100% following our last update. God inspired His people through His Holy Spirit to meet our need.  Praise God for His Providence!  He goes above and beyond our expectations every time and absolutely well beyond what we might ever deserve.  He is so good to us!

This is an excellent life application for our ministry theme this year.  We chose to give it to God in prayer and trust Him in His perfect timing and to simply #PressOn in faith.

To be fair, in the last 48 hours before leaving for a 2,500 mile round-trip like this, one doesn't have time to worry about such things.  This is how it works!  God had a plan so we didn't need a plan other than to #PressOn.  Hallelujah!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are serving this week as hosts for our Evident Ministries New Years Team Ministry Outreach here in Acuña, Mexico.  We are getting our socks blessed off, as usual, as God is working in and through us and our ministry teams this week!

It has been very cold and wet but we are choosing to #PressOn!  We hoped for sunshine and rainbows but we are trusting God who DOES know best. We are leaning in to God for courage and physical stamina and for making a ruckus in Jesus name!

Please pray for our ministry teams. This work is physically and spiritually demanding. But, also please pray for those who will be impacted by God's ministry through us this week.

Blessings to you!

Thanks for holding the rope!

We're Back! - 01/06/14

We're Back!

We're back from a week of Team Ministry in Acuña, Mexico, have unloaded, and even unpacked!  It was another 2,500 mile round trip and we are "no worse for the wear."  In fact, just the opposite!  God was so good to us and our ministry teams.  He showed up BIG, blessed our socks off AND revealed more of Himself in the process.  God used us make a ruckus in Jesus name and big impact for the Kingdom.

As usual, we hit the ground running at home - back at it.  Winter, Basketball, school, basketball, winter, groceries...basketball.

God is so GOOD!
We were there to share the Good News of Jesus.  And that we did do.  However, while there, God used our ministry theme this year, #PressOn with inspiration from Phil. 3:14 to school us on a few things and further reveal Himself to us in a mighty way.

We had a plan of our own which came with warm, dry, and sunny weather for our week of Team Ministry.  However, God had a much better plan.  His plan included an opportunity to strengthen our faith and a lesson in appreciation of God's BIG PICTURE view.  We chose to #PressOn starting the week with dark, very cold, and wet weather and an interpreter shortage.  Of course, we endured and survived through God's strength.  We were reminded we do not need to control everything and we do not need to know every detail of God's plan, just that He IS in control.

Throughout, God used this week to make a huge impact on the Mexican people we were there to minister to.  Imagine what the people of those neighborhoods thought when all these people are willing to spend hours each day, in the cold, just to share Jesus!

There are so many stories of God's goodness from this one week.  Amy Kingery was introduced to baby Amy.  This last July, Amy's ministry team did not come with intentions to conduct Women's Ministry.  However, God had other plans and sent several women to their ministry site so they did an impromptu Women's Ministry.  One of the ladies who came, has since joined the church and had a baby.  She was so touched by how Amy and her team helped her to a saving knowledge of Jesus that she named her baby Amy!  Wowzers!

Our primary object is to reach the lost with a message of HOPE in Jesus.  He is our story and we love telling our story! God used us to do just that. Pastor David reported receiving a new families in church on Sunday, and several new youth and children.  Praise the Lord!

This is a day of Good News!
This is a day of Good News and we would love to come share about how God is working in and through us here at home and beyond.

Do you have connections? Please let us know if you know of a church, group, event, etc. where we can make some music, preach the Good News, or just share about Mexico.
