Blessings to you from The Canote Family!
¡Bendiciones de la familia Canote!

We pray this finds you getting your socks blessed off in your surrender to the Lord.  God is good...all the time!

We have just returned from another wild adventure for Jesus hosting a Team Ministry evangelism event in Acuña, Mexico.  We made it home just in time to avoid driving through the 2-3 inches of snow that fell over night at home.  We left Mexico with a  sunny 74F and came home to a very cold 12F!

Our hearts are full and we are blessed with another batch of stories to tell of God's goodness and how He, once again, worked in and through us and our ministry team to make a significant and eternal impact for the Kingdom.

We are blessed to have 3 generations serving with us in Mexico!

Henry made a friend at the neighborhood ministry site
JP did a wonderful job leading us in worship for the week, was our morning
grill cook and led the daily Sports Ministry Prayer & Prep meetings
Canote kids - Gen 2
Nathan & Samantha rock at keeping all of us fed very well while we're in Mexico!
Chewy took most of these pictures and produced an incredible video to summarize our week in Mexico
(see link below) and served on the kitchen crew
Kaleigh did and excellent job leading our daily Women's Ministry Prayer & Prep meetings
and was also a member of the kitchen crew

Blessed beyond measure!

We had 43 serving on our ministry team from Cornerstone UMC in Caledonia, MI, led by Betsy Marvin, Director of Family Ministries.  We are so very thankful for the blessing and opportunity to serve alongside Betsy and her team.  Betsy led her first team to Mexico with YUGO Ministries, 18 years ago!  Betsy knows firsthand the life-changing impact made in the hearts of the youth who serve on these short-term mission trips.

We saw 45 salvation decisions, that we know of, during our week of Team Ministry evangelism in Acuña.  We also know that countless seeds were planted for a future harvest.  There is a great spiritual need for this type of Team Ministry outreach in Acuña and many areas throughout Mexico and around the world.

Jesus said, "Go make disciples."  We started the process this last week for 43 individuals.  Our primary goal with our Team Ministry in Mexico is to support the local church.  Our partnership with local Acuña pastor, David Huerta, his wife Irma and their family along with the Aviva Kairos church provides us with that opportunity.  Pastor David will orchestrate the follow-up an discipleship with all of those decision makers in the coming weeks and months.
Pastors David and Irma Huerta
Taking a personal hands-on role in leading an individual to Christ is an incredible discipleship opportunity for those serving on the ministry teams with Evident Ministries in Mexico.  After many hours of training and much prayer, the ministry teams are ready to share the Gospel message through the sharing of personal testimonies and sermons, leading devotions, etc.

PRIORITY PRAYERS:
  1. In order to survive long-term as a ministry, we need Ministry Teams who can spare a week to be a part of something awesome for God with us in Mexico.  Please pray specifically that we would be sensitive to God's lead in spreading the word about what He is doing in and through us with Team Ministry in Mexico and in making connections which will pave the way toward more teams serving with us in Acuña.
  2. We need additional financial support.  We have a very short list of some incredibly generous individuals and churches who have faithfully supported this ministry for a long time.  We are so very thankful for their support and significant role in keeping us on the mission field.  Please ask God for His direction in how you might join us in this effort by making an eternal investment in this Kingdom building ministry.  DONATE

We can assure you God has been better to us than we deserve.  We are humbled and privileged to serve the Lord.  We are certainly a blessed family!

Thank YOU for your partnership in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

We're counting on your prayers!

Canote E-Notes 05/12/16

Greetings from The Canote Family!
We trust this finds you blessed by the Lord.  We can assure you God has been better to us than we will ever deserve.  We are humbled and privileged to serve the Lord.  And we are certainly a blessed family!

We do have a pressing need and urgent matter we need to focus on and address.  And we could sure use your help!

We learned this week that two of the ministry teams we were counting on for the summer cannot be with us this year.

This will drastically reduce the actual ministry boost we can provide for Pastor David Huerta and his church, the Iglesia
Aviva-Kairos in Acuña, Mexico.  Our role in Acuña is primarily to support the local church by bringing in teams to conduct children's, women's, sports and construction team ministry.  We go in and reach the community and share the Good News of Jesus.  Pastor David takes over the follow-up and discipleship once we are gone.

This also means that, in order to host the remaining team, we will fall short of meeting the cost of the summer team ministry to the tune of about $2,000.  This will also leave nothing to help with operation costs running the ministry through the end of this year.
2016 Ministry Theme:
#Hope - He Offers Peace Eternal
"We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."  - Hebrews 6:19

HOPE - We certainly have not lost our hope!  We are trusting in the Lord to meet our needs as He sees fit.  And, we are trusting in God's people to stand in the gap for us and God's ministry in Acuña, Mexico.

We are working on ways to spread the word about the work God is doing in and through us and our ministry teams in Mexico.  However, that won't help us this summer.

How can you help?
1.  "First of all, pray" - Please join us in praying about this urgent need.
  • We need individuals and/or teams who can spare a week of their summer to be a part of something awesome for God.
  • We also need additional financial support.  Please ask God for direction in how you might make an eternal investment in this Kingdom building ministry.
2.  If you know of any individual who might be interested in joining our existing team based out of Perche Baptist Church, please help put us together so we can talk about that.

Thank YOU for your partnership in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

We're counting on your prayers!

Canote E-Notes 12/18/15

Merry Christmas from The Canote Family!
Christmas greetings and a Happy New Year from our family to yours!  Another year has passed and what a year it has been!  God has been so good to us and continues to give us many opportunities to serve Him and His kingdom.  We are certainly a blessed family!

The holidays have a special meaning for our family each year.  Like everyone else, we are enjoying the usual activities including Christmas programs, holiday parties, music events, food, family and friends.

At the same time, we are also preparing for our another week of hosting ministry teams in Acuña, Mexico.  At this point, we are counting down the hours until we leave with only a week to go!  And we are as excited as ever about another opportunity to share the HOPE which is in Jesus!

Our ministry theme for 2016 is:

#Hope - He Offers Peace Eternal
"We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure."  - Hebrews 6:19

NEW VISION - A key element of our Team Ministry effort in Mexico is the discipleship opportunity it provides for the ministry teams who come and serve with us.  It is an opportunity for a focused intentional time where we ask God to open our hearts to the plight of the poor.  What the eye has not seen, the heart cannot grieve over.  As followers of Christ, when we come face to face with real poverty - economic AND spiritual - something significant happens.  Lives become irrevocably shaped by the experience and a new vision is formed.
LEARNING EXCHANGE - As our ministry teams immerse themselves in a very different way of life during this cross cultural mission experience, their understanding of the world is deconstructed, their minds are expanded, and preconceptions are challenged.  They have come to share the incredible life-changing news of the Gospel of Jesus.  In the process God will speak into their hearts in a new, exciting, and unexpected way.

Thank YOU for your partnership in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

  1. Please pray for our family as 16 of us, in 2 vehicles, will be making the 2,500 mile round-trip from here to Acuña, Mexico.  We have made this trip now many times.  There are so many variables and issues to overcome in a project like this.  We will be relying on your prayers and trusting in God to bring us home safe once again.
  2. Please pray for those who will join us on ministry teams to share the message of hope which is in Jesus and reason we celebrate this holiday season.  Pray that they might be in full surrender to this potentially life-changing engagement in which there is an opportunity for God to work in and through them in ways He never has before.
  3. Please pray for Pastor David Huerta, his family, and church.  It is our goal to support him in the ministry which God has given him in Acuña, Mexico and that we will be a resource to him and the local church.  Please pray that we will be a blessing and God's Providence.
  4. Finally, and most importantly, please pray for those whom we will engage in this cross-cultural ministry.  Pray that their hearts will be open to receive the saving knowledge of THE Messiah.

Merry Christmas!
We're counting on your prayers!

Canote E-Notes 09/20/15

Greetings from The Canote Family!
God is good.  That is a phrase we use often.  However, the truth is "good" just doesn't really cut it.  God is so much more than just "good"  In fact, God is incredible!  His plans and timing are perfect.  And the truth is, He also is always busy blessing our socks off and never ceasing to amaze us at every turn!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT We are super excited to announce that today Chris was voted in as the new pastor of Perche Baptist Church.  We are certainly excited about this new chapter of ministry for our family.  Though it was not in our plans as we began this year, God had better plans.
Perche has been our home base for the last nearly 2 years.  The love, support, and encouragement from our church family has been at times near overwhelming.  Our church family is also very supportive and involved in the work of Evident Ministries.  The pastor ministry and our Team Ministry work in Mexico compliment each other and work together quite well.  There will be no change in our commitment to the work God has called us to through Evident Ministries.

It was only after much prayer, discussion and repeated confirmation from the Lord that he was able to confidently say he felt strongly it was God who was calling Him to step out on faith.

We are honored, blessed, and humbled to see how God continues to work in and through our family.  And we are excited to see what God has in store for us in the coming months.

 2015 Ministry Theme:  #PressOn

  • Please pray for our family as we go through some changes in routine and together take on the new responsibilities of the ministry of pastor.  Chris has the "title" but this ministry will certainly impact our whole family.
  • Please continue to pray for Evident Ministries.  We need prayer and financial support to keep this up.  Please pray, asking God if He would have you come along side us financially and then do what He leads you to do.  Any amount helps.
  • Please join us in thanking God for using our family in ministry, for blessing the people of Acuña, Mexico through our work, and for the evangelism and discipleship opportunity He gives the ministry teams who join us for Team Ministry in Mexico.
  • Please continue to pray for those who have heard and will hear THE message of HOPE through the work of this ministry.

Thank you and God bless YOU!

We're counting on your prayers!

Canote E-Notes 09/11/15

Greetings from The Canote Family!

Mr. Nicky Blue Eyes
Summer is winding down and Fall is right around the corner.  And today, thanks to a crock pot full of homemade applesauce, our house smells like Fall!  NOTE:  A crock pot full of homemade applesauce makes your house smell incredible!

The kids are back in school, kindergarten to college and we have settled back into the daily routine with now two grandkids in our home everyday during the school week.

Little Mr. Nicky Blue Eyes has taken over as the oldest at home during the day since Tori started Kindergarten.  And JP is balancing work and school as a freshman at MU.

Praise the Lord!  For many years God has kept us busy and our ministry calendar full plenty of opportunities to share the Gospel!  We have had several ministry opportunities over the last few weeks and a few things on the calendar in the coming weeks.

We will hit the road this weekend for a Canote family 2-city mid-Missouri bluegrass tour!  We will returning to a couple of our favorite ministry venues. We are blessed to once again be able to worship with our friends at the Gladden Baptist Church near Salem, MO and then another home-away-from-home, the Spring Creek Baptist Church near Rolla, MO.   We are also honored to be on the line-up to play for an upcoming very special and historical service at our home church as we help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the church building at Perche Baptist Church.
MEXICO MINISTRY
We have one large team with a reserved spot ready for Team Ministry in Acuña, Mexico over the holidays.  We have plenty room for more.  We are looking forward to an exciting time on the mission field, serving the Lord and supporting Pastor David Huerta, church Aviva Kairos and the surrounding community.  Our actual ministry dates will be December 30 thru January 3.

Fun Fact:  2016 will mark 13 years God has been working in and through us in the country of Mexico!  Hallelujah!  We have driven somewhere around 50,000 miles back and forth to Mexico in those 13 years.  What a wild adventure for Jesus indeed!  We have been blessed to play a role in a significant Kingdom ministry which has made it possible for well over 1,000 salvations (that we know of)!  God is so good!
#Hope #Eternity
